About Covered Route

Who runs the site, why it exists, and what it deliberately doesn't do.

What we are

Covered Route publishes independent, state-by-state research on car insurance costs and coverage requirements. We started the site because most car insurance content online is written by insurance agencies to sell policies, or by lead-generation sites designed to collect your contact details and sell them to agents. We do neither.

Who writes the guides

Iker founded Covered Route and researches and writes every guide on the site. Iker is not a licensed insurance agent and doesn't sell insurance. The job here is narrower: find what state regulators actually require, collect what the published rate studies actually say, check them against each other, and show you plainly where they disagree.

Guides are not currently reviewed by a licensed insurance professional. If that changes, the reviewer will be named on each guide they review.

What we are not

Covered Route is not a licensed insurance agency, broker, or carrier. We do not sell insurance policies, and we do not sell your contact information to anyone. Nothing on this site is a quote, an offer of insurance, or personalized financial advice.

How we research a guide

Legal requirements come from each state's own regulator; rate estimates come from named, published third-party sources and are shown as ranges, never invented. Every source is listed at the bottom of the guide. The full process — including why published rates disagree so much — is on our methodology page.

Corrections

If you find a figure that's out of date or a source that's been superseded, tell us via the contact page and we'll review it.
